Rev. Janelle Hooper
Pastor of Faith Formation
Janelle Rozek Hooper grew up in Houston. The encouragement of Christian leaders, valuing her gifts as a young person played a large part in why she became a pastor and why she's passionate about doing the same for young people today. She graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in African-American studies. She then graduated with a Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She met her husband Brad, in Chicago where they had their two kids, Sophia and Soren. Ordained in 2003 she has served four congregations before coming to New Hope. She also serves part-time as Program Director for Ministry with Children for the ELCA. She enjoys reading and writing; authoring "Heaven on Earth: Studies in Matthew" for Fortress Press. And if you ask her, she'll tell you she works so she can garden!
