Life Passages

In baptism, God frees us from sin and death by joining us to the death and resurrection of Christ. Baptism is a significant part of our faith journey as we come from the baptismal waters to live a new life as children of God.

In order to assist those seeking baptism in living fully into their new life in Christ, New Hope Lutheran Church holds Baptismal Retreats throughout the year to help those preparing for baptism as well as their sponsors and families. If you are seeking baptism, please make note of these dates, fill out the online notification, and contact Pastor Chris to begin your or your child’s Christian journey.

Seminar Dates:

Sunday, October 22, 2017 (12:00pm - 3:00pm)

Saturday, December 9, 2017 (9:00am - 12:00pm)

Saturday, March 3, 2018 (1:00pm - 4:00pm)

Baptismal Celebrations

There are certain Sundays and Festivals in the life of the Church that are especially appropriate for celebrating a baptism. For this reason, NHLC strongly encourages scheduling your baptism on one of these dates. As baptisms are an especially joyous time in the life of the faith community, we may have more than one baptism on a given baptismal Sunday or Festival.

Baptismal Dates:

Sunday, November 5, 2017 (All Saints Sunday)

Sunday, May 20, 2018 (Pentecost Sunday)

Sunday, January 14, 2018 (Baptism of Our Lord Sunday) Sunday, May 27, 2018 (Holy Trinity Sunday)

Sunday, February 11, 2018 (Transfiguration Sunday) Sunday, June 24, 2018

Saturday, March 31, 2018 (The Great Vigil of Easter)

At the table and meal of our Lord Jesus Christ, God nourishes faith, forgives sin, and calls and sustains us to be witnesses to the Gospel.

New Hope Lutheran Church has no predetermined age at which communion may begin being received, rather all baptized young people may commune regularly at a time determined through mutual conversation that includes the Pastor, the child, and the parents or sponsors involved. NHLC holds periodic Communion Retreats as part of this conversation. When a child and their parents or sponsors are ready for communion instruction, they should consult the available dates, fill out the online notification,  and contact Pastor Chris to make him aware of your interest.

New Hope Lutheran Church holds regular Membership Summits during the year for those who wish to commit more deeply to this faith community as we do God's work in Christ's name for the life of the world. Membership Summits are classes that take place for a few hours over a couple of weekends to help familiarize you with the faith practices and worship life of NHLC, to help connect you with members of the congregation, and help familiarize you with all our community does. If you would like to become a member of New Hope, please make note of the upcoming dates, fill out the online information sheet, and contact Pastor Chris to let him know of your interest.
